I went out to check my veggie garden this morning and I couldn't believe how many tomatoes have grown. The small cherry tomatoes are everywhere. Boy when they start turning red I'm going to be drowning in tomatoes! LOL! Here's a pic.
Hello everyone! Hope you're all enjoying your summer so far. My morning glories are finally taking off. I planted purple and blue but for some reason only the purple ones are blooming! My next door neighbor gave me this trellis. It fit just perfect at my front gate.
Well my Black Eyed Susans are finally starting to bloom. We've had soooo much rain and not much sun so things are just starting to bloom. This particular plant just happened to grow right in the middle of my back corner garden. I never planted it there but there it is! I'm still waiting for my morning glories to bloom. Lots of leaves but no blooms yet. I'm getting really impatient waiting for everything. The weather here has only been in the 70's during the day so it hasn't gotten really hot yet. I'll be posting more pics as things bloom. Thanks for stopping by and blessings to all.
I found an old piece of fence or ladder in back of my house and decided to use it in the back corner of my yard. I placed an old watering can with some vinca vine on the top step and leaned it up against my fence. There are quite a few other plants just on the verge of blooming so when they do I'll be posting more pics. Blessings to everyone.
Here it is another gloomy day in Rhode Island. I have so many plants and flowers getting ready to bloom but I think we need a little more sun! LOL! I planted some morning glories near an arbor at the front gate of my house that are just starting to climb. As soon as they start blooming I'll post some pics. Here's a couple of pics I took the other day of a vinca vine I placed in a lantern I found at a yard sale and my back corner. The watering can has a geranium in it that hasn't bloomed yet. Soon I hope! Blessings to you all!
Well today is another day of showers. I've been wanting to post more pics but the weather hasn't been cooperating much. Have morning glories that haven't bloomed yet and some others that I think could use some more sun. I recently put an arbor at my front gate of the house so I'm dying to see the morning glories start growing! I also just took my window birdfeeders down from my porch. I love watching the birds but boy do they make a mess!! Bird poop everywhere! LOL! Anyway, hope everyone has a wonderful day and as soon as my flowers start blooming more I'll have plenty of pics to post. Until then God Bless.
I'm amazed at just how beautifully everything is growing this year. I think all the rain we've been getting has really helped alot! Here are some pics of a clematis vine I planted about 3 years ago. As you can see it's doing great! I have it growing on a heart trellis right now but I think I'm going to have to get something bigger next year.
I also planted a perrenial garden on one side of my house that's doing great too!
Here's a pic of some daisies I planted last week next to a cherub holding a baby bluebird.
I'll be posting many more pics as soon as things start growing more. Everyone have a wonderful rest of your weekend and thanks for stopping by!
I found this old meat crate in the attic over my garage. I really like it but have no idea how to display it. I was thinking of putting it in my yard and filling it with plants and flowers. Does anyone have any ideas? I'd love to hear your input. Hopefully I can do "something" with it.
Here it is 8:00 in the morning and they're saying showers and in the 60's. I keep looking at my vegetable garden and wondering if it's ever going to grow! I guess I shouldn't complain seeing all the rain is really helping everything! Here is a pic of my rosebush I planted last year for my mom. It's doing beautifully!
We had a wonderful Memorial Day. Every year my brother Paul has a big cook-out with a band, great food and lots of family and friends. We had a great time! Here are some pics from that day. Hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day too!!
Here's a pic of my cat Zion. He drives me crazy because just about every night if he's outside he waits till I'm in bed then he jumps up on my bedroom screen to let him in. The funny part is that before I go to bed I go to the door and call him but he never comes in. I think he purposely waits for me to get into bed before he decides he wants to come in. Go figure!
Good morning! I'm in the process of doing my bedroom over. Betsy Ross brown walls with white trim! I can't wait for it to be finished! I'll be making new curtains, changing wallhangings, accessories, etc. This Saturday I'll be doing the walls (before it gets too hot and I don't feel like doing it)! LOL! As soon as it's done I'll be posting pics so be sure and check back. Have a great day and wonderful Memorial Day weekend!
Here it is Sunday morning and it's cold, windy and rainy. Very "unspring" like. I'll probably try getting some sewing done. I recently added a sewing room to my basement and it's become my retreat when I need a little peace and quiet. Here is a pic I took of it.
I found this baby bunny in the middle of my yard this morning. Fortunately I got to the poor little guy before my dog Zoe got it! He was so scared he didn't even move when I picked him up. Unfortunately, wild bunnies are not good to keep as a pet so I let him go off to find his mommy. Here is a pic of him I took.
Here it is Sunday morning and I'm just watching a squirrel in my yard sitting in one of my birdfeeders! I like to put out sunflower seeds for the cardinals, bluejays, etc. but the squirrels love them too so they do whatever they can to reach my feeders. I've even tried giving them their own feeding station but they still want the birds seed too! Oh well, I guess they have to eat too. Getting ready to start my vegetable garden. I have alot of digging to do. Ugh!!! I'll probably plant the usual tomatos, green beans, peppers, broccoli, zucchini (did I spell that right?), and maybe try eggplant. I looove eggplant!! The nicer the weather gets the more I want to be outside doing things. The flowers are next! Off I go!
It's that time of year again. I've been raking, sweeping, fertilizing, etc for the past week! I just love being able to get outside and enjoy spring! We've had such a long winter that this is a long awaited pleasure! I even played some baseball with my two grandsons over the weekend. I really treasure these times with them. They called me yesterday to tell me they have a new bunny named "Daisy" and 2 angel fish! They were so excited. Ahh to be young again! Today it looks like it's going to rain so I'll be in the house with 2 of my daycare kids. Bye for now!
It's kind of funny how when you see an old picture (like the one I just posted of my great grandmother) you wonder what that person was like, what kind of life they had and just who they were in general. I received a stack of photos from my aunt a few weeks ago and it just amazes me that these people are actually related to me. You wonder what their daily life was like, how they managed all those kids they used to have and how they got by with so little. It really puts things in perspective today doesn't it?
For some reason this year I'm dying for spring. Coming from New England our winters are usually pretty cold, but this year was the snowiest and coldest I've seen in a long time. But just this morning I saw a couple of robins which always makes me feel good that spring is just around the corner. I can't wait to start planting those flowers and vegetables and just being outside. I think my little ones are anxious to get out too! I've just had my fill of SNOW this year!
My name is Dianne and I love primitive decorating. I'm constantly changing things around in my home to make it feel more cozy and warm. Going to yard sales and antique shops is my favorite thing in the world to do. I also like spending time with my 2 grandsons, Julian and Jayden.
